UNION Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw yesterday participated in the opening ceremony of the “Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange”, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China in Chongqing, China. He joined fellow regional science and technology ministers at the event.

THE signing ceremony for three Memoranda of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of India under Quick Impact Projects (QIP) was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Nay Pyi Taw, on 6 November 2023. The ceremony was attended by Dr Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Daw Than Than Lin, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance, U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Wah Wah Maung, Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Dr Htain Lin Oo, the deputy minister and deputy attorney-general for Legal Affairs, senior officials from relevant ministries, Mr Ashish Sharma, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India and officials from Embassy of India.

THE 1st Myanmar-Russia Maritime Security Exercise (MARUMEX) was launched at Thilawa Port of Yangon on the afternoon of 5 November. Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung and Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Nikolai A Evmenov of the Russian Federation took salute of the naval parade companies of both countries. They all saluted the flags of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Russian Federation. The two commander-in-chiefs (navy) delivered opening speeches and declared the launching of the exercise. The Myanmar-Russia Maritime Security Exercise comprises prevention of air, water surface and underwater dangers and maritime security measures with participation of aircraft and naval vessels from both sides.

TO enhance the friendship between Myanmar Tatmadaw and the Russian Navy, a concert featuring the Myanmar-Russia Friendship Myanmar Military Cultural Troupe and the Russian Naval Orchestra was held at the Zeyathiri Beikman in the Yangon Command Headquarters yesterday. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Zaw Hein and officials, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Iskandar Azizov, members of the Russian delegation, along with Tatmadaw from the Yangon Command and families among others were present on the occasion.
