The Ministry of Health and Sports will use US$ 10.7 million international funds for prevention and control measures against the COVID-19.
Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe unveiled the offers of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) for $10 million which is 10 per cent of Health system strengthening (HSS 2) grant to Myanmar, and $0.7 million from the USAID.
He added that his office is increasing momentum of preventive measures against the pandemic, with holding regular meeting on video conferencing with local health authorities across the country.

UNION Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye held a video conference yesterday with the ministry’s team working on ground in Kyaukpyu to close Kyauktalone IDP Camp.
At the meeting, the team’s lead Dr Ko Ko Naing, Director-General of the Disaster Management Department, reported on the meeting with the departmental officials at the Kyaukpyu District General Administration Department.
During the trip, the team discussed building houses, roads and infrastructures for drainage system, drinking water and electricity, education and health sector.

The AQ-1359 flight was loaded with 15 tonnes of raw materials from Guangzhou city of southern China.

Rice merchants in Mandalay Region said they will sell the rice sufficiently at regular price if there is shortage of the crop in the market due to excess accumulation of public out of worries about COVID-19.
General Secretary of Mandalay Region Rice Merchants Association U Sai Kyaw said the domestic consumption of rice is lower than the supply volume in Myanmar.
“We are concerned about possible skyrocketing price of rice as people are purchasing excess amount commodities, including rice,” he said.

THE Ministry of Information has notified cinemas across the states/regions of Myanmar to suspend screening starting from 16 March. This is done in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), which was declared a pandemic by WHO on 11-3-2020.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Thu inspected construction of a new fisheries training institute in Twantay Township, Yangon, yesterday.
Located in Zeebyugone village beside Maubin-Twantay-Yangon motorway, the institute is under construction with K889.54 million from 2018-2019 Financial Year. At the completion, it will confer diplomas on fisheries subjects ahead of establishing a university-level.
