Celebrities from literary world, music, motion picture, and traditional dramatic society (Thabin) took part in production of MRTV educative programme for Covid-19.
The programme was shot at the MRTV’s studio in Yangon yesterday.
Together with the senior officials of Ministry of Health and Sports, famous writers, singers and traditional dancers held talks on prevention of the pandemic, dissemination of real news, and ensuring no panic among the public.

THE Ministry of Border Affairs and Nippon Foundation signed an MoU on multi-sector development in Kayin State and Mon State yesterday.
The signing ceremony took place at the ministry building in Nay Pyi Taw and was attended by Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Aung, Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Than Htut, directors-general, and officials from the ministry’s departments, and Executive Director Mr Yuji Mori and officials from Nippon Foundation.

The Ministry of Border Affairs has been sharing news and information on COVID-19, including how it spreads and preventive measures against it, at the universities, degree colleges and schools under the ministry since the spread of the virus.
Deputy Permanent Secretary U Soe Tun Nyo said the ministry has provided students with necessary hygiene equipment and they have closed their domestic vocational schools and youth training schools according to directives from the President’s Office.

THERE are a total of 160,581 students sitting for the Geography subject at exam centres locally and abroad on the eighth day of the matriculation exam for 2020.
The number of exam centres totaled 1,558 with 5 locations overseas and 1,558 nationwide.
Out of 160,581 students sitting for their exams on the eighth day, 22 are taking their exam at hospitals. Meanwhile, 7 hearing impaired persons, 31 visually impaired persons, 20 physical disabilities persons, 113 prisoners, and 14 students from Myawady, Kayin State took their exam.

The Pyithu and Amyotha Hluttaw donated a total of K 12,880,000 from their combined daily allowance towards the protection against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The donation ceremony took place yesterday at the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw’s Hall-D where the two Deputy Hluttaw Speakers handed over the donation to the secretaries of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019.

THE Ministry of Education announced over 300,000 students are sitting for the first semester exams of universities, degree colleges and colleges for 2019-2020 academic year across the country.
Out of 304,128 registered students at arts/science universities, degree colleges and colleges, a total of 293,399 students join the exams, while 10,729 were absent.
At the Technological Universities and Universities of Computer Studies, 35,184 students are present out of 35,970 and 786 students were absent.

Mon State government issued an order for closure of Kyaiktiyo Pagoda festival to alleviate concerns for coronavirus in the country.
The announcement came after the meeting of Mon State government yesterday. The closure of the festival takes effect on 21 March.
“Although no announcement was made, the number of visitors to the Golden Rock significantly declined. Passenger vehicles to the pagoda will not run from 21 March.” said U Soe Myint, Director of Mon State government.
