Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe presided over the daily meeting (29/2020) on prevention of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at his office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.


At the meeting, the minister discussed the requirement of extraordinary measures against the deadly COVID-19 while the disease is rapidly spreading in some countries although Myanmar is still exempt from it.

A technical working group comprised of representatives from UNDP and UNHCR proposed findings from a field visit to Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships, Rakhine State, and a coordination meeting for related implementation was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement yesterday.

Myanmar citizens can now purchase flight tickets for international and domestic flights on Myanmar National Airlines (MNA)’s website in Myanmar Kyats (MMK) starting from 5 March, 2020.
MNA announced that the service is only available for Myanmar citizens and can be purchased through their website at www.flymna.com and will be available on their mobile application soon.
On their Website, the pricing for a flight can be viewed in MMK upon choosing the ‘Local’ option and in USD when selecting the ‘Foreigner’ option.

The 2nd Myanmar-Czech Foreign Office Consultations was held on 3 March 2020, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in Prague.


The meeting was co-chaired by U Soe Han, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Martin Tlapa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation of the Czech Republic.

The 8th State Central Working Committee of Sangha continued its meeting on the second day at Maha Pasana Cave in the precinct of Kaba Aye Pagoda in Yangon yesterday.
