UNION Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye held a video conference with UN humanitarian aid agencies yesterday concerning preparations against COVID-19 for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

CHINESE government donated medical protective equipment to Myanmar on 26 March to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr Chen Hai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar, handed over the medical supplies to Prof Dr Zaw Than Tun, Director General of Medical Research under the Ministry of Health and Sports.
This is the second batch of donation from China, and included 5,000 personal protective equipment (PPE), 5,000 N95 masks, and 200,000 disposable face masks.
The first batch of China’s donation included laboratory equipment, and face masks.

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye called on officials of the ministry’s departments in regions and states for cooperating with regional authorities in fighting the COVID-19 in their regions respectively.
He urged the officials at the video conferencing meeting yesterday to work together with regional authorities to provide the community-based facility quarantine to Myanmar migrant workers returned from Thailand.

Over 80 factories in Thilawa Special Economic Zone are operating as usual despite the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Dr Than Than Nwe, Secretary of the Thilawa SEZ Management Committee.
“Over 80 factories in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone are currently operating. With the factories running, their employees are working as usual. There are more than 12,000 permanent employees working in the Thilawa SEZ.” said Dr Than Than Nwe.

Two well-wisher organizations donated K 40 million to the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at the Ministry of Health and Sports in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, in his capacity as Secretary (2) of the committee, received K 35 million donated by Myanmar traditional cheroot producers association, and K 5 million provided by the Mann Aung Nyein Foundation.

The daily central coordination meeting on preparedness and response to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) held meeting No. 41/2020 yesterday.
In his address to the meeting, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe said they will upgrade the central command centre from this day to better manage and facilitate engagement with COVID-19. He said they must amend their current strategies for the virus as 3 imported cases have arrived in Myanmar.

Myanmar migrant workers returned home through the second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge in Myawady for five consecutive days.
A team of authorities comprised of officials of administrative, health care and security sectors have been providing them with medical check ups and transportation services in efforts to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection.

MYANMAR Post (MP) under the Ministry of Transport and Communications will issue three new special postage stamps worth K500, K200 and K100 each to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Armed Forces Day. The special stamps will go on sale at all post offices in States and Regions at 9:30 am on 27 March 2020 (4th Waxing of Tagu 1381 ME).
As a special programme, the Central Post Office of Nay Pyi Taw, the Yangon General Post Office, and the Mandalay General Post Office will stamp the postmark and date on the commemorative stamps and First Day Covers purchased.
