A DELEGATION led by Union Election Commission Chairman U Hla Thein arrived back in Yangon yesterday after observing the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections in India.
Officials from Indian Embassy in Yangon, and officials from UEC Office and Yangon Region Sub-Election Commission welcomed the UEC Chairman and party at the Yangon International Airport.

U KYAW KYAW MAUNG, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, received Indian Ambassador Mr Saurabh Kumar at his office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, they discussed matters related to banking cooperation between Myanmar and India, smooth implementation of making payment and keeping accounts among Asia central banks, and electronic card payment system.

A total of 3 teams, including Ministerial staff, families actively participated at the event. A diplomatic delegation led by Union Minister U Kyaw Tin of the Ministry of International Cooperation continued, in a speed launch, their study tour of islands around the Myeik Archipelago yesterday.
First, they arrived at the Thayawthadangyi Kyun (island) where a pearl farm was developed by the Myanmar
Atlantic Company. Pearl farm in-charge U Saw Hte La briefed them on pearl farming and they studied the pearl farm.
They then proceeded to the Smart Island, one of the most popular sightseeing tours among domestic and foreign visitors both, where there are two beaches.

A PhD candidate from King’s College London in England recently attended the 22nd Zawti Shan novitiation and ordination ceremony in Mohnyin Twonship in Kachin State.
“There is little Western literature that focuses solely on the Zawti and as a result, the tradition has sometimes been misunderstood,” said Ms Olivia Porte, a PhD student at King’s College London.
“My PhD thesis focuses on Shan Buddhism and I am particularly interested in the Zawti tradition,” said the visiting research scholar at Shan State Buddhist University.

Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of capacity-building training course (2/2020) conducted by the Information and Public Relations Department at its office in Yangon yesterday morning.
In his opening remark, the Deputy Minister said the goals of nation and practices of its administration body has significantly changed, comparing with the situations in 30 years ago when the IPRD was founded.

THE Office of the President issued Press Release No 6/2020 yesterday, publicly announcing the Ministry of Home Affairs’ arrests and seizures in the fight against illicit drug trafficking up till 8 February.
The ministry made the arrests, acting on information, sent to the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department of the Office of the President as of 8 February.
